1912, London. Henry Higgins bets Colonel Pickering that he is a skilled enough teacher to turn Eliza, a flower girl, into someone who could fool upper-class people into thinking she was to the manor born. Eliza, wanting to better herself, goes along, and although she finds learning difficult at first, she eventually emerges triumphant. Higgins, however, views the triumph as his own, which infuriates Eliza and nearly sends her into the arms of Freddy, and highborn lad who has fallen in love with her. By the final curtain, Higgins realizes what he's lost, and Eliza returns to him. Synopsis (c) Peter Filichia
