Have you ever had a person that you're crazy about? Guys And Dolls is about two men in the 1940s. One man, Nathan Detroit, is engaged to the lead singer in the Hotbox Club, Adelaide. They have been engaged for many many years but have never gotten married, causing Adelaide a lot of strife and an illness she describes to the audience in the song Adelaide's Lament. Nathan is the organizer of an illegal crap game (basically a game of betting on dice). The other man, Sky Masterson, a player of a man who doesn't ever stay with one woman seriously, gets into a bet with Nathan that he can take a certain missionary woman, Sarah Brown, on a date to Havana, Cuba, Nathan thinking that he can get a good amount of money off of the bet. When Sky successfully takes Sarah on this trip, Nathan has to hold his crap game in the sewers for lack of money and places that will allow him to hold the game. Sky unknowingly falls in love with Sarah, and she falls in love with him. Sky then struggles with inner turmoil of continuing his player and betting ways or being with the woman he loves, Sarah. His final decision ends with Sky betting against all the guys at Nathan's crap game in order to bring them to a missionary meeting that Sarah is holding. Sarah and Sky, whom you find out is really named Obadiah, get married along with Adelaide and Nathan at the end of the show.
