1138, England. King Arthur is awaiting the arrival of his wife, Guenevere in Camelot. One day when he was walking in the forest he meets Guenevere and instantly likes her, though she doesn't know who he is. When she discovers she is marrying Arthur, Guenevere is relieved. They get married, and Arthur becomes inspired to make a round table to sit knights that practice chivalry. Lancelot of France is the first to respond to the call. He becomes Arthur's friend and right hand man. Guenevere likes him alright but does not fall in love until a jousting tournament where Lancelot brings back one of his opponents from death. Lancelot is charmed by her and quickly falls in love. Arthur feels he can do nothing to stop their growing love and therefore does nothing. When Mordred, illegitimate son of Arthur, finds Lancelot in Guenevere's bedchambers one night, he has her arrested for treason. Arthur helps Guenevere and Lancelot escape even though he knows that it means the end of Camelot.
