Announcing our 2024 Show!
HCST's 48th Anniversary
The Story:
Set in a mythical New York City, Guys and Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy. Gambler, Nathan Detroit, tries to find the cash to set up the biggest dice game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck. Meanwhile, his girlfriend and nightclub performer, Adelaide, laments that they've been engaged for fourteen years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler, Sky Masterson, for the dough, and Sky ends up chasing the straight-laced missionary, Sarah Brown, as a result. This adventure takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong. Guys and Dolls is a musical with music & lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling & Abe Burrows. It is based on "The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown" (1933) and "Blood Pressure", which are two short stories by Damon Runyon, and also borrows characters & plot elements from other Runyon stories, such as "Pick the Winner". 2023 Summer Recap
It’s so nice to be back where we belong! 2023 marked our second year back after the pandemic had barred us for two summers from producing our annual show. This year celebrated our 47th anniversary show, and theater enthusiasts traveled to Marriotts Ridge High School in record numbers to see that we are still glowing, still crowing and still going strong. Thank you to all those who showed up to support us!
As has been our practice for many of those 47 years, HCST was able to donate a total of $2,000 to two local beneficiaries: Grassroots and Prepare for Success.
Plans are already in the works for 2024, so mark your calendars to be prepared to follow the fold and come see our theatre company as we sing & swing to favorites like “Luck Be A Lady,” “If I were a Bell,” “Adelaide’s Lament,” and “Sit Down You’re Rockin’ The Boat.” Hope to see you there!
